Pelotes de Zétulbé
A very old recipe, dated the first half of the XIXth century, made of a hull of milk chocolate filled with a mix of finely crushed hazelnut and almond and covered with crispy cocoa flakes. Dedicated to the youngest to the eldest ! Some history: an Opera in one act from Boeldieu (and libretto from Saint-Just), first performed on the 16th of September 1800 whose story take place in Baghdad. The Caliph woos Zétulbé in disguise, wishing to be loved for himself, winning the object of his affections in spite of misunderstandings occasioned by Zétulbé's mother, who mistakes him for a well known robber. The caliph and Zétulbé correspond by way of message hidden in crates of 'pelotes' (silk balls)...
